Arleen & Shane
Santa Catalina, one of California’s Channel Islands, lies southwest of Los Angeles. It's known for its wildlife, dive sites and Mt. Orizaba, its highest peak. The resort town of Two Harbors lies to the north. To the south, in the city of Avalon, palm trees and cabanas line Descanso Beach. Avalon’s circular, art deco Catalina Casino is a cultural center with a movie theater, ballroom and museum.
The weekend of Arleen & Shane's wedding was met with hurricane warnings and boats being cancelled. Arleen, aware that what she had originally planned was changing by the minute, didn't know how her dream day would turn out. The day before the wedding the island was hit with droves of rain and hurricane warnings. Her original venue, which was outdoors had to be changed. There were so many details that were out of her control.
Shelly Toland, her mother in-law was quick to spring into action and help with the venue change and set up. I remember telling Arleen that things were going to come together better than she imagined despite the chaos that was ensuing. She had no clue what her new venue would look like yet alone the details. Arleen & Shane ended up snagging a spot at Descanso Beach Club which had been booked up till 2023. The couple just so happened to change their minds and prefer to elope. As we wrapped up family portraits before the ceremony, Arleen had no idea how beautifully things turned out for her.
Congrats to Arleen & Shane!
